Twelfth Night
Dec. 4 - 21, 2008

by William Shakespeare
directed by Rebecca Holderness

When a shipwreck strands young Viola in a strange land, she disguises herself in order to pass safely through the country. There, she finds herself falling in love with the Duke with whom she finds employment. But he is in love with the beautiful and grieving Olivia. In this midst of this mix: the bawdy trio of Sir Toby Belch, his sometimes flame Maria and the non-too-bright young gentleman, Sir Andrew Aguecheek.

Shakespeare's beautiful and elegiac love story comes to exuberant life in this staging by the director of last season's hit Crowns and the critical and audience favorites Travesties and A Doll House.

William ShakespeareThe greatest playwright in the English language, Shakespeare wrote 37 plays, all of which are still performed regularly all over the world. His comedies include As You Like It and A Midsummer Night's Dream. His history plays include Richard III, Henry V and Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2. Shakespeare's tragedies include Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet and his 'Problem' plays include All's Well That Ends Well and The Tempest.
