Burning Coal Theatre
Marketing/Development/Community Engagement Director 

Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC is seeking a part-time (25-30 hours per week) contracted Marketing/Development/ Community Engagement Director.  Candidate will be involved in the following ways and with the following activities: 

  • Work directly with the Artistic Director and Director of Education on all audience engagement and outreach programming
  • Accessible, inclusive and energized event promotion
  • Create marketing, sponsorship and outreach strategies to support our programs and all fundraising efforts
  • Track and analyze ticket sales and donations
  • Develop content for our website and social media
  • Identify press opportunities and develop relationships with news media
  • Network at Burning Coal, partner and community events
  • Update calendar, website and/or coordinating updates with our web developer
  • Coordinate with related organizations and potential advocacy partners for collaboration opportunities
  • Partnership building with organizations spearheading campaigns and movements related to our mission and work
  • Attend shows and events to support the artistic activism efforts and build new relationships
  • Management of multimedia materials
  • Compile media sample packages for grants and development use
  • Communicate with and send thank-you notes to donors
  • Coordinate and develop fundraising and community-building events
  • Prepare materials for programs
  • Join in advocacy and outreach events

 Ideal Candidate Has –

  • Relevant experience and/or intent to develop expertise in this field; formal training will be considered, but is not required
  • A creative eye towards fun, accessible and sustainable community engagement strategies
  • Engaging written and verbal communication style
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience within arts and/or social justice communities
  • Technical skills appropriate for the position such as data base management, social media, etc.

Part time contracted – 25-30 hours/week
